The rules do not require HCSSAs, other than hospice inpatient unit, to evacuate or transport clients in an emergency or to continue to provide care to clients in emergency situations that are beyond the agency's control and that make it impossible to provide services. Because HCSSA clients do not receive 24-hour care from the HCSSA and because they reside in the community, clients have the same choices and options as other members of the community to shelter in place, evacuate or arrange for evacuation through family, community resources or by calling 2-1-1. This document contains templates and tools for the development of an all-hazards emergency preparedness plan to be used by home care and hospice providers. Emergency plans are an important tool in knowing what to do in the event that an emergency happens while children are in your care.

Child care providers must have a plan to protect children in the event of emergencies. The process of developing and maintaining a plan along with regular practice drills makes it more likely that the child care agency will be equipped to protect children when a disaster strikes. Your Licensing Program Evaluator will review and monitor your plan to ensure that it complies with the requirements in the emergency preparedness licensing law.
